FOR METABOLIC FUNCTION

One of the putative health benefits of anthocyanin intake is reported to be the prevention and suppression of obesity and metabolic disorders.

Whilst the exact mechanisms remain unclear, there have been a number of observations suggestive of the possible causes of these effects. To date, blackcurrant extract has demonstrated a direct effect on glucose and insulin control, attenuating weight gain and improving glucose metabolism and increases in whole body energy metabolism.

A recent short-term placebo study demonstrated intake of Curranz® extract improves insulin responses and free-living postprandial glucose excursions in sedentary overweight/obese individuals.

Seven days of CurraNZ® intake improved insulin sensitivity 22%, reduced free-living post-meal glucose responses of up to 9% and reduced circulating levels of the inflammatory marker CRP 24%.
